Overview
Turbine Power, Weight and Smoothness with Diesel Economy
Principle benefits are light weight, low volume and low parts count when compared with conventional diesels with similar power output.
The prototype engine, the CPT330, is a 3.3-litre module, producing 261kW (350hp) at 5,000 rpm.
Without the induction, exhaust systems and pumps fitted, the unit occupies a space of 800 x 350 x 210 mm (31 x 14 x 8 in) and a target mass is 75kg (165 lbs).
To achieve this requires no special or exotic materials, manufacturing or assembly methods and the weight could be further reduced if required.
